Free TFFC Mini-Institute (Cradle of Forestry)
This day trip will focus on the impact that the Timbering Industry had on the Appalachian region and the emerging modern nation while visiting the birthplace of forest conservation in America. All travel arrangements will be provided for registered teachers. Group size is limited and teachers of 5th and HS American History will be given first priority. Doors Open 2008
Started in France, the Doors Open program seeks to connect local residents to the cultural and historic resources in their own back yards. Our event will highlight 10 local historic sites and museums, who will open their doors free of charge for the day. More information about the participating sites can be found here.

Join us for an awards reception honoring the 2008 Preservation Award Winners. The reception will be held at the International Storytelling Center on Main Street in Jonesborough. In addition to hearing from Historians and fellow teachers, participants will travel to West Virginia for an overnight visit.
