The programs of the Heritage Alliance strive, not only to preserve our history, but also to educate the public about the unique contributions that past residents of Jonesborough, Washington County, and the surrounding region have made to history. We offer programs for children and for adults, and for local residents and tourists.
By stepping into a restored 1880s one-room school, taking a stroll down the streets of Tennessee’s oldest town, or holding a photo taken over a hundred years ago, people can connect with the past in new and meaningful ways. The lessons learned by children and adults alike can be used to understand how our ancestors lived and how their decisions and actions helped shape our nation. The understandings gained through experiencing history contribute to informed citizens who understand the impact that their own lives have on the modern nation.
