Programs

Through the preservation and care of records in our Archives, to the material culture collected by the museum, the Heritage Alliance has a strong commitment to education. Our award-winning programs tell the stories of place, of people and of life through the centuries.

Oak Hill School Heritage Education Program is a 4 to 5 hour program, allowing participants the opportunity to step back to 1892-1893 and enroll for the day. Geared toward 4th and 5th grade students, limited to 30 students at a time, this program is flexible for groups with other needs.

The History Hunt is a way for small independent groups to explore the streets of Jonesborough using historical maps and discovering the answers to a number of questions. For grades 5 and up, Heritage Alliance staff does not guide groups through town, so group size is dependent on the number of chaperones and size of groups.

Behind the Cases Museum Experience is a great add on to a visit to Jonesborough, museum staff guide students through analysis of primary sources and allow them to see objects not usually on display. This program is adaptable for any age group but is limited to 30 students at a time.

All programs must be scheduled with the Heritage Alliance at least 2 weeks in advance by calling 423.753.9580
