Statement: All duplication services are made under the guidelines of the United States Code (Title 17) regarding copyright which authorizes the Heritage Alliance to furnish a reproduction if it is not to be “used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship or research.” Copies are made with the understanding that material duplicated is for the patron’s own educational not-for-profit research and will not be duplicated by the patron or others nor used elsewhere by the patron or others without the expressed written permission of the Heritage Alliance and of the copyright holder. The physical ownership of material by the Heritage Alliance does not imply ownership of literary or other rights to the material protected by the copyright law. It is the responsibility of the patron to determine copyright ownership.
Research: A $5.00 minimum reference service fee is required on all requests that are more than a ready reference request. This covers up to one hour of staff time and up to 10 pages photocopied and mailed. Additional copies above 10 cost 25 cents each. Referral may be made for additional research required.
Loans: The Heritage Alliance will not loan archival material except under rare special circumstances to other professionally operated archives or museums. Loans are at the sole discretion of the Heritage Alliance and must be approved by the full Board of Trustees of the Heritage Alliance.
Duplication Services: A “Request for Duplication” form must be completed, signed, and returned before any copies can be made. Forms may be obtained directly from the Heritage Alliance either in person or through the mail.
Payment: Advance payment is required on all fees. If deemed necessary, postage charges may be added to the total fee. Checks for photocopies should be payable to The Heritage Alliance. All fees are credited to the budget of the Heritage Alliance and are used for the management, conservation and accession of archival material. Heritage Alliance members in good standing will not be charged the duplication and publication fees.
Fee Structure
Photocopies: In person: 10 cents per copy. By mail/phone/email: 25 cents per copy. No more than 10 % of a book (exclusive of Index) or one article per book, if the book is a compilation, will be copied. We retain the right to limit duplication to 200 pages per day, per patron. The patron should also read the photoduplication policy listed in the rules for using archival materials found on the back of the research registration form. Copies are made by staff. It may be necessary to deny duplication because of the physical condition of materials the staff time required special donor restrictions or copyright law.
Scanning and Printing images: $10.00 per hour charge (includes staff time and postage if mailed). The minimum charge is $10.00. Images are also available on disk at the same hourly rate plus medium charge (see below). Patron may supply their own disks.
Disk Media: CD = $2.00
Handling fee: A $3.00 handling fee is added to the total order if material is mailed.
Publication Fees:
Publication/Exhibition fee (educational/not for profit use) = $10.00 per image
Publication fee (domestic commercial use) = $25.00 per image
Publication fee (domestic and world commercial use) = $50.00 per image
Publication fee (all editions, all uses commercial use) = $100.00 per image
