Preservation Month Activities

May has been designated by the National Trust for Historic Preservation as National Preservation Month. In an effort to spread the word about preservation to our community more effectively, the Heritage Alliance annually sponsors a variety of events throughout the month to both educate the public and celebrate preservation-related accomplishments in our region.

Doors Open

The Doors Open program began in France and has been replicated in communities around the world. Our version of the program includes sites from throughout the region, and provides an opportunity for local residents to explore the historic sites, museums and other attractions in our own backyard. Regional Preservation Awards

Awarded annually, the Preservation Awards celebrate those in our region who have made a significant impact on the preservation of structures or the advancement of preservation in our region. Award recipients are honored at a reception during Preservation Month.
