Historic Downtown Walking Tours On Summer Hours

The Historic Downtown Walking Tours are now back on their summer hours.  Tours are held every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday at 1:00 pm in downtown Jonesborough.  Tickets are $5.00 per person and are available for purchase at the International Storytelling Center.  Tours last about online casino an hour.  Join us and learn about the people who built Jonesborough and called it home.  Tours can be altered to fit specific topics and interests.   (Photos courtesy of Tom Pardue)

Traditional Rug Hooking Classes Returning to Chester Inn

Traditional Rug Hooking with Joani Range-Douglas at the historic Chester Inn this summer.

Date: June 6, 2015

Time: 10:00 am – 2:30 pm

American Flag Pillow project – Make a small American Flag pillow while learning the art of Traditional Rug Hooking.  The class includes all supplies and tools required to finish the project. The fee best online casino is $25.00 for the class and supplies. The kit includes: frame, rug hook, linen backing, cut wool strips, pillow back and finishing material.  Pillow size is approximately 8” x 5”.

Chester Inn Museum Seeking Volunteers

The Heritage Alliance is in need of volunteers to help out at the Chester Inn Museum this coming summer. We’ve added a new day to the 2015 season, and the museum is now open on Mondays. We’re looking for volunteers to help out with two-three hour shifts on Sundays and/or Mondays starting in May.   Volunteers would serve as docents and would help welcome guests, work at the front desk, answer questions, online casino and lead visitors upstairs on tours of the Inn’s original parlor and dining room. Anyone interested in volunteering will take part in a docent training session at the museum. New Veterans Display and Upcoming Programming

The latest edition of “A Military Life”, a rotating exhibit honoring Washington County Veterans, is now on display in the Jonesborough/Washington County History Museum. The newest installment features radio equipment used by First Sergeant (Retired) Douglas Bonnot during his time with the 265th Radio Research Company (RRC) in Vietnam. Mr. Bonnot will be demonstrating the equipment and talking about the history and role of the 265th RRC on Sunday, March 1 from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. in the Jonesborough/Washington County History Museum located inside the Jonesborough Visitor’s Center.

The 265th RRC was stationed in Vietnam from 1967-1972, but very few people know they best online casino even existed. Their wartime designation, meant to keep their mission disguised, lasted long after the Vietnam War was over and kept most information about them out of the history books. Over the past decade, Mr. Bonnot has worked to correct this, gathering the stories and memories of his fellow soldiers and publishing them in a book, The Sentinel and the Shooter. Learn more about the 265th RRC and their role in Vietnam during Mr. Bonnot’s presentation. The program is free of charge and suitable for a wide range of ages.

Chester Inn Museum Hours Change

The Chester Inn Museum will open for the 2015 season on Friday, February 27th.  This year will bring new exhibits, a new lodging room on the third floor, and first and foremost, new hours!

Feb 27 – April 30 – Open Monday, Friday, and Saturday from 11:00-6:00 and Sunday from 1:00-5:00

May 1 – Oct 31 – Open Monday, Wednesday-Saturday from 11:00-6:00 and Sunday from 1:00-5:00

Nov 1 – Dec 28 – Open Monday, Friday, and Saturday from 11:00-6:00 and Sunday from 1:00-5:00

Town Tours Return March 2nd!

Historic Jonesborough, Main Street walking tours are back this Spring!  Tours will depart every Monday and Saturday at 1:00 from the International Storytelling Center beginning Monday, March 2nd.  Guides will talk about the history of Jonesborough and the people who lived and worked in the buildings that continue to line Main Street.  Tours are $5.00 per person and last from 45 minutes to an hour.

Starting May 1, tours will be held every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday at 1:00.
