SUMMARY:"Tunes\, Tales\, and Rails" Concert for Chuckey Depot Museum
DESCRIPTION:  \nAll aboard! The Chuckey Depot Museum and the Jonesborough Senior Center are bringing music\, tales\, and railroad history to Jonesborough’s newest park on Saturday\, September 9th. Several musical groups are coming together to share music and stories at Lincoln Park. Acts include the Jonesborough Golden Heirs Choir\, Jonesborough Senior Center\, and area soloists. The concert is directed by Cherry Smith. \nThe concert begins at 4:00 pm that afternoon and will last ninety minutes. The concert is free\, but donations are encouraged. All donations go to the educational programs and exhibits at the Chuckey Depot Museum. The museum is located on Second Avenue in a historic Southern Railroad depot that was moved from Chuckey\, TN\, to save it from demolition. Today\, the museum shares the history of the Chuckey community as well as the history of the Railroad in the region. The museum is free of charge so all donations to help with changing exhibits and programming is appreciated. \nSeating will be provided in the amphitheater courtesy of the Town of Jonesborough\, but you are also welcome to bring your own. Audience seating is not covered. Concessions will be provided by Paws in Blue. SUMMARY:”Forever Christmas” Concert
DESCRIPTION:All aboard! The Chuckey Depot Museum is bringing some Christmas cheer to Tennessee’s oldest town on Tuesday\, December 13th. Several musical groups are coming together to share the joy of the season through song and dance at the McKinney Center that evening starting at 6:15 pm. Acts include local duo Alathea\, Studio Dance\, the Appalachian Irish Dance Company\, Jonesborough Golden Heirs Choir\, Jonesborough Senior Center\, Johnson City Senior Chorale\, and area children’s choirs. They’ll be coming together to present “Forever Christmas” by Mac Huff. There will also be additional songs and even some celebrity guests\, including Santa Claus and Rudolph. The concert is directed by Cherry Smith. \n  \nThe pre-show will begin at 6:15 pm at the McKinney Center in Jonesborough. The main concert begins at 7:00 pm. The main show will last an hour. If you come for the pre-show\, expect to stay for two hours. The concert is free\, but donations are encouraged. All donations go to the educational programs and exhibits at the Chuckey Depot Museum. SUMMARY:Chuckey Depot Exhibit Opening
DESCRIPTION:All aboard! Next stop\, the railroad in pop culture! The Chuckey Depot Museum in Jonesborough will host a reception for its newest exhibit “Good Morning\, America\, How Are Ya?: Railroad Americana\, A Pop Culture Phenomenon” on Saturday\, March 5th from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm. The railroad has been a part of American history\, culture\, and society since the mid-1800s. It has worked its way into books\, music\, toys\, clothes\, movies\, art\, and much more. \n  \n \n  \nThe exhibit includes pop culture artifacts from multiple decades. How have toy trains changed through the years? How many movie plots are focused on trains? What does a train lover take their lunch to school in? A train themed lunch box\, of course\, complete with matching spoon and fork. See all these items and much more on display in the museum. Come out between 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm on March 5th to view the new exhibit\, enjoy railroad songs performed by local musician Scott Wild\, and listen to a story from railroad historian Gary Price. The Chuckey Depot Museum is free of charge\, but donations are greatly appreciated. \n  \nYou can visit the museum in person on Thursday\, Friday\, and Sunday from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm and Saturday from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm. The Railroad Americana exhibit will be on display at the museum through August of 2022.
